What is the Character Matrix Window?
The complete character set and an anti-aliased kerning sample of the
current typeface is displayed in the Character Matrix Window. To designate
another font, use the [LEFT ARROW]/[RIGHT ARROW] keys, the tiny right/left
buttons in the lower left corner, choose a font from the Settings menu,
or click a font in the Installed Fonts Window. Combine different styles
with the Style menu. Change the displayed point size by vertically resizing
the window. The kerning sample can be altered by double clicking the text
line at the bottom of the window.
What is a character sample?
Click and hold a character to display a ~144 point, anti-aliased sample
with its ASCII number in decimal and base 16. The sample also shows the
font's leading, ascent, descent and the character's width. Widths exceeding
the em-width are shown in red. Double click a character to copy it alone
in its current font, size and style to the Clipboard. This can be very
handy when working with dingbats fonts. But use some caution if you then
feel the urge to jump over a cozy lummox.
